Grease Was The Word – Tickets $20

At Disability Rights & Resources, we serve the whole person. Your generous support enables us to provide the exceptional turn-key, holistic approach for which we are known. By contributing to our efforts, you ensure that lives are changed and saved. Consider “Cathy.” She was on the streets at 15, uneducated, dealing with epilepsy, and developing major anger, and emotional problems. As life passed her by, years of homelessness and poverty, combined with her disability, took their toll and a later diagnosis of HIV+ seemed to be the beginning of the end. No program could hold and help her. She was, in her own words, her own worst enemy. Finally, someone referred her to Disability Rights & Resources.

Fast forward four years in our Peer Mentoring program and things have changed dramatically for “Cathy.” She always had a spark that wouldn’t die, and as long as she wouldn’t give up, neither would we. A good part-time job, a safe place to live, medications under control, and a strong belief in her mission have given “Cathy” a much different feeling about herself and her life. She still has goals to accomplish, and she will. When asked about the support from Disability Rights & Resources, her immediate response was, “They saved my life.”

Not all of what we do is quite as dramatic and complicated. But, we never know when other people like “Cathy” will come through the door, looking for someone to stand by them and work with them towards a good life. Your financial support insures that we are always ready to help.
